About Nuri
Hundreds of millions of people live away from someone they are responsible for. The work of caring still has to happen, in a place they are not.
What Nuri is
A marketplace with a memory.
Nuri connects a family who needs help with a Pro who can give it, handles the money between them, and keeps the record of what happened. Three sides have to work at once: the person arranging care, the person providing it, and whoever coordinates or pays.
Most of what makes this hard is not finding someone. It is everything around the finding — knowing they came, knowing what they did, knowing they were paid, and being able to hand any of it to a sibling or a doctor without starting the explanation again.
Nuri is being built to work across borders, because that is where the need is: a daughter in one country and a father in another, a family split across three time zones, someone sending money home every month with no way to see what it bought. The distance is different in every family. The problem is the same one.
How Nuri is built
The rules we hold ourselves to.
These are not aspirations written for a website. They are the standards the product is built against, and they are the reason parts of this site say something is not ready.
Honest labels
Nothing is called verified, encrypted, delivered or complete until it is. Where a number has not been measured, Nuri says so rather than printing a plausible one.
People decide
Anything touching money, safety, identity or a Pro’s income is decided by a person. Software proposes and explains; it does not execute.
Explainable or not shipped
Every recommendation carries what it was based on and how confident it is. Automation nobody can interrogate is treated as a defect.
Authority is granted
Relationship grants nothing. Access is attached deliberately, recorded, and can be withdrawn.
Nobody learns our vocabulary
Nuri has internal words for its roles. A person using it never has to know one.
Built for a bad connection
Low bandwidth, cheap phones, signal that drops. Offline work queues and syncs, and is never shown as done before it is.
Empty means empty
No invented families, visits or balances to make a new account look busy.
Where Nuri is
Not open. We are building the product and testing it with a small group, and we will open one market at a time rather than announce a launch everywhere and serve nobody well.
